FrameAlbum now supports PicasaWeb Public albums!

Today I enabled the PicasaWeb Public albums channel type.  This will allow you to add images from PicasaWeb Public folders to your frame’s feed.

You can add anyone’s Public folder to your frame as long as you know their PicasaWeb username, usually a GMail email address.  Also, like the Flickr channel type, you can add multiple PicasaWeb channels to you frame so that you can see multiple user’s photos on your frame.

This feature is available immediately to all registered users of the FrameAlbum service.  If you haven’t done so already, you can pre-register for the beta at www.framealbum.com.

As always, if you notice anything wonky with this new channel type, or any part of the FrameAlbum service, please contact me — I can’t fix it if I don’t know it’s broken.

This is starting to get good!

  1. The short answer is yes, I do plan on supported private/protected albums on Picasa as well as Flickr. The reality is that those require considerable more work to support and I felt it was more important to get a working version up quickly.
Once we get the basics supported I’ll circle back and broaden the support within the individual services such as private albums.

  2. I signed up for the beta but never got an invite. According to the site everyone was invited? I have two frames that I’d love to get running again.

  3. @Commander: All pre-registrations entered prior to 4-July have been released; there are still many which have not. I see that your invite has already gone out. I’ll resend it this morning. Have a look in your spam folder just-in-case it was mis-directed there. Let me know if you do not receive it in a few hours and I’ll get you the invite in another way.
