Hello,

I configured my device to use the provided DNS. I got the activation key and the frame ID. I reset my DNS setting back to their original value. Will I be able to connect to framealbum now? Also, how do I configure channels on the framealbum.com site?

The Frame Channel HD was the best channel on our dish network. It was always on our TV and I will miss it more than you know. We received a lot of comments on the pictures and no one believed it was a channel provided by Shaw Direct. So thank you for the years you were able to provide us awesome pictures from far away places and I hope we get to see your channel back again someday.

@Till: FrameChannel compatible feeds do not include any real security; if someone knows the MAC address of your frame and it's associated 'ProductId' they can view your feed. ProductIds designate the Manufacturer & Model of your frame; chances are if someone knows the MAC address of your frame then they also know the make and model number. This is an example of 'security by obscurity'. However, the Custom RSS feeds provided by FrameAlbum (and were also supplied by FrameChannel) do include a randomly assigned PIN in addition to the frame's MAC address. This is a very week form of security that will at least slow down the bad guys. You can read more of the FrameChannel protocol I also just released your beta invite -- you should see an email shortly.

@Shelku: I see that you’ve registered on the service and built a Picasa channel. The system can’t seen to find any public photos on your Picasa feed; do you have any?

@RobH: Yes! FrameAlbum does provide MRSS feeds. The MRSS URL is shown on the frame detail page. I’ve been able to use TVersity to feed a UPNP (or is it DLNA? I can never remember…) HP frame. It’s not pretty, but it does work.

@bebegera: I see that you have registered on FrameAlbum and configured a few channels. However, it seems that the system can’t find any public photos in your Picasa account. Some folks have reported that they do have public photos but that FrameAlbum isn’t finding them. Do you have any public photos in your Picasa account?

Hi streamingmeemee,

i started writing my own FrameChannel replacement. And i ran over the FrameChannel-Login / activation for the Devices. With the Custom-RSS-Feeds, delivering is simple but the is no security behind that, am i right? Because everybody knowing the link to my channel can view it!
I tried to identify the Frame by MAC-Adress or something but all request to my webserver showed nothing i can idenitfy a single device from. Do you have anything in the pipe for that? By the way, i would realy like to join the Beta-Program

Thanks for trying to replace the FrameChannel service! It’s too bad that it was discontinued!

I just bought the Kodak W820 for my mother and I was trying to get it setup for her before Christmas… Would it be possible to get in on the beta testing as well? I just signed up today…

Signed up for Beta, just wanted to know if this will work the same as framechannel with the PIN number as my frame is actually a EX-1011 and does not officially support frame channel, but because it is UPNP capable I can run a RSS feed to it through TVercity or Twonky. Will I be able to use this also, I was always able to just set my pin as a 4 digit number on the framechannel website then put that into my rss feeds url. Anyways look forward to getting on the beta to test it out. Thanks
