Thamsanqa Shabalala of Ladysmith Black Mambazo – 2018 Lowell Summer Music Series

2018 photo100 – #53

I, like most Americans, first experienced the vocal power of this group on Paul Simon’s 1986 album “Graceland”. The simple stage setup for this group, 9 microphones, belies the complexity of the harmonies and rhythms crafted by this Grammy winning ensemble.

Rhiannon Giddens – 2018 Lowell Summer Music Series

2018 photo100 – #35

Wow. I was not familiar with her work before the show but, Wow… just WOW! Her repertoire ranges through blues, ‘old time music’, gospel and a whole lotta in-between. My personal fav. was her renditon of the Ethel Waters version of ‘Under a Harlem Moon’ – standing ‘O’ ladies and gentlemen!

I don’t know… What do you see?

This is a long exposure of several folks with LED light sticks & hulla hoops. I captured this at a Matisyahu show in 2011.

This is the second image from this performance that I’m featuring in my Photo100 project. There will be at least one more, but you’ll just have to wait for it. 2018 Lowell Pride Parade

2018 photo100 – #31

I attended my first Pride Parade today. Lowell is a modestly sized former mill town so I expected a modest parade. Well, I was quite impressed with the number of folks participating!

For me, this person was the hands-down winner! Kudos!
