The 28th annual Lowell Folk Festival is this weekend in Lowell, MA. It is the largest free folk festival in the country but don’t be mislead by the ‘folk’ moniker. It is not simply acoustic guitar rendetions of Kumbaya. It celebrates a broad spectrum of food, dance, art and music from acrross the country and the world. I heartily recommend it. You can find the schedule for this year’s performances at http://www.lowellfolkfestival.com

This was taken in 1993 at the annual King Richard’s Faire in Carver, Mass. I went down with a group of folks with whom I was playing Dungeon and Dragons. They went in costume, I, however, did not. I think that makes me the slightly more normal one. 😉
The person in the photo is _not_ in our group. ;-))
This woman was carrying mortar to workers performing renovations on the site we were visiting. Not a single piece of power equipment was to be found; everything was done by hand from mixing the mortor to cutting the stone.
