Gregg Allman – 2014 Lowell Summer Music Series

photo365 – Day 221

My mojo was definatetly not workin’ yesterday.
It started at about 6:30AM when the line to set down your blankets for the show was released early while I was having a conversation with one of the series bigwigs. I lost my normal spot to a ‘runner’.

I’ve been looking foward to this show all season and was very disapointed by a strict ‘no pro cameras’ policy. My backup camera, the Canon SX230 HS, doesn’t do well in very low light and the lighting for this show was much dimmer than usual.

This shot is the best of an embarrasingly bad set of shots from this show.

Patrick Murphy of Gaelic Storm – 2012 Lowell Summer Music Series

photo365 – Day 219

This show was a highlight of the 2012 season for me. Gaelic Storm are great fun to see live and I look forward to seeing them again.

The donkey’s name is Darcy and is the namesake of one of their songs.

Apparently I never posted shots from this show so you’ll have to settle for their 2009 show here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/streamingmeemee/sets/72157622320837723/

Carter Gravatt of Carbon Leaf – 2014 Lowell Summer Music Series

photo365 – Day 215

What a difference a millisecond can make. In the blink before this image was captured the stage was under full lights. I’m not entirely unhappy with this shot; the red ads a bit of drama but it does make it less obvious that Carter is a good two feet in the air. 😉

Samba Mapangala & Orchestre Virunga – 2014 Lowell Folk Festival

photo365 – Day 207

The 28th annual Lowell Folk Festival is this weekend in Lowell, MA. It is the largest free folk festival in the country but don’t be mislead by the ‘folk’ moniker. It is not simply acoustic guitar rendetions of Kumbaya. It celebrates a broad spectrum of food, dance, art and music from acrross the country and the world. I heartily recommend it. You can find the schedule for this year’s performances at http://www.lowellfolkfestival.com
